Transit Industry Day

Hosted by CapMetro, this year’s Transit Industry Day will be held at the City of Austin Permitting and Development Event Center. The event will focus on helping small businesses strengthen their business position. Featured will be panelist that include current CapMetro contractors as they provide information and insight on the following:

  • Business Development

  • Becoming a subcontractor

  • Forming strategic partnerships

  • State of small businesses in the Central Texas Region

Attendees will also have the opportunity to network with current CapMetro contractors and organizations/chambers.

Join us for our 5th Annual Golf Tournament and Scholarship Fundraiser! This year’s event will be hosted at a new venue, River Place Country Club. Each year COMTO Austin awards scholarships to Texas college students who are passionate about pursuing future careers within the transportation industry. Academics, honors, awards, letter of recommendations and involvement in related clubs and organizations are all taken into consideration when selecting the scholarship recipients.

Join us for our Professional Development event, which will include five panels consisting of fellow transportation professionals in the industry who will discuss their roles, career trajectories, challenges they have faced, and advice to succeed in the transportation industry. Panelists include:

  • Equity Panel: Martin Kareithi (CapMetro, Director of Systemwide Accessibility), Michael Bryant (TxDOT, Director of Civil Rights Division)

  • Environmental Panel: Shandrian Ugwuoke (Michael Baker, Environmental and Planning Department Manager), B.J. Carpenter (Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Airport Environment and Sustainability Officer)

  • Planning Panel: Kammy Horne (MPact, Chief Executive Officer), Emma Martinez (CapMetro, Transportation Planner)

  • Engineering Panel: Arash Saeedi (WSP, Local Business Leader), Maximillian Pleason (AECOM, Transit Engineer), Dr. Arthur Antoine (AXIOM, Director of Project Delivery)

  • Public Involvement Panel: Melissa Ortiz (CapMetro, Director of Community Engagement & Involvement), Frances Jordan (AECOM, Strategic Communications Manager)

The event is $15 for COMTO members and $25 for non-COMTO members. Lunch will be provided. Please note - Membership will be verified after purchase for all individuals purchasing the COMTO member ticket.

Join us for our DBE workshop and learn from representatives from TxDOT, ATP and CapMetro about their DBE Certification requirements and the application process.

 Learn more about project opportunities that might be available for DBEs working with ATP and TxDOT and insights into the process for successful team building and hear about positive experiences    working on projects in Texas"

This workshop is free to attend and lunch will be provided. Registration is required.
